Executive Biographies
Donald Bishop
Donald Bishop is the President of Gardens Are… and is widely recognized for his work in organic landscaping.
Donald is an appointee of the Massachusetts Invasive Plant Advisory Group and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Vegetation Management Plan Advisory Panel, the City of Marlborough Open Space Committee, and the Marlborough Storm Water Management Advisory Committee. He is a founding faculty member of the Northeast Organic Farming Association, Organic Land Care Program and past member of the board of directors at the Ecological Landscaping Association.
Donald has written numerous articles and has co-authored Strategic Recommendations for Managing Invasive Plants in Massachusetts, City of Marlborough Open Space and Recreation Plan 2003–2008, and Standards for Organic Land Care: Practices for Design and Maintenance of Ecological Landscapes. He has provided peer reviews and been a contributing editor to several publications, including: Alternatives for Invasive Ornamental Plant Species, Guide to Healthy Landscapes, Vol. 1: From the Ground Up: Site and Soil Preparation, and Earth Friendly Alternatives: A Concise Guide.
Donald is a frequent presenter of workshops, lectures, and participant in panel discussions. He has been a guest lecturer for the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, as well as Cooperative Extensions Services of Cornell University and Universities of Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.
Donald holds accreditations and certifications in organic land care and landscape management from the Northeast Organic Farming Association and the University of Massachusetts.
Patricia Bishop
Patricia Bishop is the Human Resources Manager and oversees all aspects of personnel administration, compensation, safety and loss control.
Prior to assuming responsibilities with Gardens Are... Patricia was a flutist appearing at venues including Boston Symphony Orchestra's Symphony Hall, with the Chieftans, and recording a world premier concert piece with James Galway. She has also taught flute lessons at public schools and has been the music director of a community choir that has presented unique multi-media performances in the Boston market.
Originally a native of upstate New York, Patricia followed her talents to Boston and the Boston Conservatory of Music where she received her Bachelor of Music.

Duane holds a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University and Juris Doctor from the Boston University School of Law. |
